The answer first
Find Bog at the skull tavern or near the well, follow him to the talking well, and drink to receive Dark Water Taint. Speak to Bog, then visit Bronwyn. From the north end of Magdal’s Rest, head west past the large rocks, descend the canyon by the old tree, and look left of the large pipe for Spongestone. Place it in the well, then return to Bog.

- Find Bog in the skull tavern; if absent, check near the well.
- Follow him and drink from the well.
- After Dark Water Taint appears, speak with Bog.
- Accept his direction to ask Bronwyn for help.
Ask Bronwyn for help
The current route reaches Bronwyn by taking the main road north from the tavern area and turning left. She explains that a madman carried her last Spongestone west.
Find Spongestone west of town
- Go to the north end of town and face west.
- Pass the large rocks and look for three smaller rocks.
- Descend the canyon beside an old tree.
- At the large pipe, turn left and collect Spongestone nearby.
Place it in the well
Return to the well. The recorded method drops Spongestone from inventory, picks it up as a world object, and places it into the well. Then return to Bog.
