Quick answer

The answer first

The entire game is officially playable in co-op, including exploration, quest choices, and shared spoils. Update 6 says quests track the host and includes client inventory and progress fixes; Hotfix 5 added teammate-marker teleporting. Update 7 now shows co-op companions on the compass and says non-host players must change race in their own single-player game to update that multiplayer character.

01

What co-op officially includes

Steam lists online co-op, shared/split-screen co-op, Remote Play Together, and single-player. The official description says the whole game can be explored together and quest consequences belong to the group.

02

Treat the host as quest-state authority

Update 6 says co-op quests track the host and lists fixes for client quest reconstruction, inventory restoration, multiplayer state loading, and wiped progress.

  • Record who is hosting before a quest.
  • After reconnecting, compare the host journal with the guest tab.
  • Confirm both inventories before handing over a unique quest item.
  • Keep a save before a choice-heavy or previously reported quest.
03

Teammate teleport is not normal fast travel

Hotfix 5 added teleporting through a teammate’s map marker. This does not prove every discovered world location supports ordinary fast travel.

04

Update 7 companion and race-change rules

  • Co-op companions are now visible on the compass.
  • A non-host player who wants to change race should load that character in single-player, use the southern-shore mirror, then return to multiplayer.
  • Co-op allies can strike summons without causing retaliation.
05

If players desync

Recent reviews mention rubber-banding, inventory mismatch, quest-state problems, or rejoining sessions. These reports do not establish one universal fix. Record patch, host, quest, item state, and reconnect result.
